What is Abuse?

  • Willful infliction of physical force that may result in bodily injury, physical pain, or impairment
  • Non-consensual sexual contact of any kind
  • Infliction of emotional or psychological anguish, pain, or distress through verbal or nonverbal acts
  • Refusing or failing to provide goods and services needed to avoid physical harm, mental anguish, or mental illness
  • Exploiting the material resources of an elderly or vulnerable person for personal or monetary benefit.
